 Goddess & Symbolism

The lion's gate portal.
I'd like to share a special piece with you,
astrology, symbolism and the forgotten goddess combined.

This portal opens every year on August 8, the star Sirius, Orion's Belt, and the Earth all line up,
"This creates a powerful portal of energy, which is potent for manifesting,"
"The name has its roots in the idea that this alignment creates a "portal" with "lion" coming from the sun in Leo".  "During the Lion's Gate portal, Sirius separates sufficiently from the sun to come into view. Since Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky,
some ancient mystics believed it infuses the earth with extra energy and light."

She was known as Queen of the Universe.

Let me introduce you the first worshipped goddess mankind has known. Inanna (Ishtar), she is often depicted riding lion or standing with them by her side, armed with the weapons of the time and accompanied by her celestial counterpart Venus the planet. In symbology she is associated with the Eight-pointed star or the octagram.

Inanna was the first ever goddess to be written about in our conventional knowledge of history. Depictions of the sacred feminine in ancient cultures reveal a deep understanding of the power and beauty the feminine embodies. Female appreciation and adoration, Me thinking out loud; dear universe please teleport me back in time :)

Inanna occupied a prominent role in the imagination of our ancestors. She appears in the Babylonian Epic of Gilgamesh and was the foremost Sumerian goddess off Uruk the ancient city in Sumer. In the very earliest written texts from the mid-fourth millennium B.C she appeared. She is also mentioned in all the early god lists among the four main deities, along with Anu, Enki, and Enlil. In the royal inscriptions of the early Dynastic Period, Inanna is often invoked as the special protectress of kings who claimed her support in battle and politics.

The goddess Inanna descended to the underworld, died and returned. Upon her return to the upper world, she was no longer as she was: she had become wiser. Through her journey of transformation, this goddess gained new insights. The wisdom Inanna brought with her from the underworld was both in the positive and the negative.

The story of Inanna is about descending into oneself, learning to let go of that which is no longer fruitful, and blossoming again. In the story, life, death, chaos and order come together as love and wisdom.

Curiously enough, her functions included both Love and War as well as justice, vengeance, death,  abundance,  and sexuality.

While that plethora may seem immiscible to modern sensibilities, it is not uncommon to find deities in the ancient world that embody contrary ideals within the whole. Polarity was viewed as an innate characteristic any of natural principle and so hence the seemingly incongruous ideas of Love and War are received as integral to and even inseparable from one another. Opposites are identical in nature but different in degree.

Polytheism and sun cult adoration flourished until the first centuries AD when the church and other patriarchal religions swept the world and the Goddess "in general" along with her temples and teachings were destroyed.

Astrology

Since ancient times and across multiple civilizations, Sirius, the dog star, is located in the constellation Canis Major –  This star has been surrounded with mystery.
Esoteric teachings of all ages have invariably attributed to Sirius a special status and the star’s importance in occult symbolism is an attestation of that fact.

Artifacts of ancient civilizations have revealed that Sirius was of a great importance in mythology, astronomy,  and occultism. Mystery schools consider it to be “sun behind the sun” and, therefore, the true source of our sun’s potency. If our sun’s warmth keeps the physical world alive, Sirius is considered to keep the spiritual world alive. It is the “real light” shining in the East, the spiritual light, where as the sun illuminates the physical world.

In Ancient Civilizations like Egypt, Sirius was regarded as the most important star in the sky. In fact, it was astronomically the foundation of the Egyptians’ entire religious system. Ancient Egyptians worshipped Sirius as the goddess Sopdet, celebrating Sirius' return in the morning sky as the start of the farming season and the beginning of a new year. "Healers and teachers believe the energy coming from Sirius contains special elevating or activating energy that can help the Earth and her people evolve,".

The Egyptian calendar system was based on the heliacal rising of Sirius that occurred just before the annual flooding of the Nile during summer. The star’s celestial movement was also observed and revered by ancient Greeks, Sumerians, Babylonians and countless other civilizations. Several researchers have claimed that the Great Pyramid of Giza was built in perfect alignment with the stars, especially Sirius. The light from these stars were said to be used in ceremonies of Egyptian Mysteries. Recent scientific discoveries relating to the Great Pyramid and its mysterious “air shafts” have lead researchers to further confirm the importance of Sirius within the pyramid. In the Pyramid initiations took place.

What about

Esoteric thinkers, who base symbolism upon the equation macrocosm=microcosm.

René Guénon points out that: ‘The true basis of symbolism is, as we have said, the correspondence linking together all orders of reality, binding them one to the other, and consequently extending from the natural order as a whole to the supernatural order.

Sirius

In Chinese and Japanese astronomy, Sirius is known as the “star of the celestial wolf”.

Several aboriginal tribes of North America referred to the star in canine terms: the Seri and Tohono O’odham tribes of the southwest describe the Sirius as a “dog that follows mountain sheep”, while the Blackfoot call it “Dog-face”.

The Cherokee paired Sirius with Antares as a dog-star guardian of the “Path of Souls”.

The Wolf (Skidi) tribe of Nebraska knew it as the “Wolf Star”

Further north, the Alaskan Inuit of the Bering Strait called it “Moon Dog”.

Question

How to project human love into the ‘heart’ of things?

How often do you go silent and connect and feel inside ?

What needs to be removed and what are you welcoming and inviting in?

Symbolism is the language of the Mysteries. By Symbols men have ever sought to communicate to each other those thoughts which transcend the limitation of language. Manly Hall

A symbol is a bearer of meaning; it has a form on the one hand, and a meaning on the other. The meaning of a symbol is conventional; it is usually based on agreements that the users of the symbol once made. One symbol can carry more meaning than a thousand words. The power of a symbol is immense and we see them today mainly in logos. The uniqueness of a symbol is that it travels the world without a language barrier. That it connects cultures/people & unites people with a similar train of thought.

"In ancient civilisations and indigenous tribes it was very common to communicate by symbols, since Patriarchal religion overruled, the use of symbolism and alchemy got connected too witchcraft and we all know what happened to them. Casting out all connection to the energy of the unseen, only a male form god on a cloud and a male form priest were able to tell you divine truth. ( blasphemy)?

At every stage of civilisation, people have relied on symbolic expression, and advances in science and technology have only increased our dependence on symbols. Symbolism underwent a twentieth-century revival with the study of the unconscious. Indeed, symbolic language is considered a science and leaves an impression on the mind of man. If I recall the saying of Plato: ‘What is perceptible to the senses is the reflection of what is intelligible to the mind’; and echoed from the emerald tablets of Thoth (Tabula Smaragdina): ‘What is below is like what is above; what is above is like what is below’,  symbolism is related to polarity, linking the physical and metaphysical worlds.

I'd like to address one problem which we cannot ignore: not all human beings are on the same level of development. Even if we do not accept the idea of radical differences, or the concept of spiritual growth, -a concept which always has a touch of the esoteric about it, it is undeniable that differences of

intensity (emotion, inner life, richness of thought and feeling) and of quality (intellectual and moral education) bring about essentially different levels of thought, whether it be logical or magical thought. A fool sees not the same tree as the wise man sees. W.B.

We communicate with the world around us from the inside out "all day". Let's assume for one moment that we have a soul that lives inside our vessels, your body, how often a day do you go inside "yourself" to listen and to really connect with soul?

" To see a World in a Grain of Sand And a Heaven in a Wild Flower, Hold Infinity in the palm of your hand And Eternity in an hour. There rolls the deep where grew the tree. O earth, what changes hast thou seen! There where the long street roars, hath been The stillness of the central sea. " William Blake

To refer back to the story of Inanna which was about descending into oneself, learning to let go of that which is no longer fruitful, and blossoming again. In the story, life, chaos and order come together as love and wisdom. What is it that you want to let go off, and what do you want to welcome into your life?

B.

*I had the urge to write about Inanna for a long time, but sometimes the timing is not right as the right connection did not appear. As soon as I thought of the Lions gate I saw the opportunity to bring her back to life. The goddess with her lions, Roaring by her side and protecting her.

“In the world, we meet the world where it is , anyone is in a different development stage.
We are loaded and coded with infinite possibilities.
We need to get rid of that veil which covers the connection with our higher selves. We need to raise our core frequency.
This will help us evolve into higher states of consciousness.
